"What Crosses" is the guiding question of the 2026 edition. It interrogates the mechanisms of selection that determine the asymmetric circulation of literatures across the Mediterranean: who decides what crosses cultural and linguistic borders, through what institutional tools, and with what consequences for peripheral or politically marginalised literatures. Cyprus, the 2026 focus country, brings the question into concrete, geopolitical form as a divided island. Cagliari, the fellowship's permanent home, brings its own experience of cultural peripherality to the same question.
